In an interview with ABCs George Stephanopoulos on July 5, Mr Biden joked that only divine intervention could change his mind about running. "I mean, if the Lord Almighty," Biden said. "Here's what historians say would happen in the event Biden steps down.
Biden dropping out so late would be unprecedented. If Biden were to bow out of the presidential race, it would be the first time a major party nominee has dropped out after the convention since 1896.

At least three more House Democrats called on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race. Undecided voters grade Trump's performance at RNC. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer responds to ABC reporting that he made a forceful case.
During the press conference, Biden said the only way he's stepping aside is if he is shown data that shows he won't win the race, though he insisted no poll so far has shown that.
