The Edmonton Oilers have taken an early lead in the Western Conference Final, defeating the Dallas Stars 3-2 in double overtime in Game 1 on Monday night at Rogers Place.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins led the way for the Oilers, scoring two power-play goals in the first period to give Edmonton an early 2-0 lead. Evan Bouchard also scored for the Oilers, while Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz replied for the Stars.

Stars goalie Jake Oettinger made 37 saves in the loss, while Stuart Skinner made 19 saves for the Oilers.

The series now shifts to Edmonton for Game 2 on Wednesday night. The Oilers will have a chance to take a commanding 2-0 series lead, while the Stars will be looking to even the series before heading back home for Game 3 on Friday night.
